Studio Policies
Hours
Our classes are scheduled Tuesday 4:30pm–7:30pm and Wednesday 4:15-6:15pm, during the school year, at which times we will have someone at the front desk to take inquiries and/or concerns. Additionally, you may reach us via email or online Monday-Thursday, 9am-4pm. Parents, please make sure to address all business matters during our regular hours.
Email, Website, & Social Media
Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see updates! We will also primarily contact families through email, so let us know if you don’t believe you have been receiving emails from us. We want all of our families to get the latest updates throughout the year!
Tuition & Fees
All fees must be paid through each family’s parent portal on Studio Pro.
Tuition may be paid in full at the beginning of the year or the beginning of the spring semester. If a student withdraws after paying in full, we cannot offer a refund or credit.
Please reach out to us if you or someone you know is finding it financially difficult to enroll in our studio. We do have limited scholarships available each year.
A $25 registration fee is charged per student per year and is due at time of registration. Siblings’ registration fee is $10 per student.
Sibling Discount - Families with more than one child enrolled in classes receive a 10% tuition discount for all children.
Students enrolled in more than one class will receive 15% off tuition. This offer can be stacked with the sibling discount!
All accounts are highly encouraged to be on auto-draft. Tuition will be drafted to your card on file on the 5th of each month from September-April.
A $15 fee will be added after a second failed payment.
A $15 late fee will be added after the 10th of the month for accounts that have not paid tuition.
No refunds or credits will be given under any circumstances, including tuition, costume fees, registration fees, etc.
Academy of Arts reserves the right to drop a student for failing to pay tuition.
Class Levels
Students are placed in classes according to age, but our teachers and staff will contact parents if they believe a student needs to be placed in a higher level. Don’t hesistate to reach out if you have any questions about class placement.
Medical Policy
Please let us know ASAP of any medical conditions that we should be aware of. If a student is injured, we will need a doctor’s note to excuse them from classes. For students who will be out of class for more than two weeks, we will prorate tuition until they can rejoin.
Class Cancellations
We generally will follow the local schools regarding cancellations due to inclement weather. However, the director may close the studio or cancel classes for other reasons (power outages, construction etc.). Be sure to follow us on Facebook & Instagram (Academy of Arts Yazoo City, and aoayazoocity) for the latest information. We will send updates via text, email, and social media. We cannot prorate tuition if classes are canceled; however, students may request to take a make-up class if they would like to.
Withdrawal Policy
We highly encourage families to view enrollment in a class as a yearly commitment; however, if a student or family needs to withdraw from classes, please contact Anna Joyner. You will need to submit a withdrawal form, and if the student is dropping classes mid-month, tuition for that month must still be paid in full.
Dress Code
All students are required to abide by the dress attire for their class(es). Failure to follow dress code may result in a student being asked to sit and observe class. Dress code is located under the class description in your parent portal on Studio Pro. Let us know if you have any questions or need assistance locating items for classes!
Attendance
We encourage all students to keep absences to a minimum, both to help them avoid losing what they’ve been working on, and for the benefit of the class as a whole.
Students are expected to be on time for class, and students who are more than 15 minutes late may need to watch class, as missing warm-up may make it unsafe for students to dance.
A student may be removed from a class piece if they miss more than five classes in a semester, and if students have missed seven classes they may be removed from the class.
There are no refunds for missed classes. Make-up classes (limited to 2 per semester) may be scheduled in another class at the same level and genre, or at the level below. No classes may be made up with an older class. Please schedule by emailing us or talking to the director.
Studio Rules
Academy of Arts is a family-friendly, faith-based studio, and so we ask for all of our students, staff, and teachers to conduct themselves in kindness with respect for those around them.
No food or drink (except for water) in class. No chewing gum in class.
Be aware of noise levels when classes are in session.
Please always watch young children who are not in class, and remember that Academy of Arts cannot be held responsible for children who are not enrolled in a class.
No gossip or foul language.
No cell phones during class. Phones must be silenced and kept in a dance bag out of the way or in the lobby.
Supervision- Parent Responsibility Agreement
Academy of Arts Yazoo City is responsible for the supervision and safety of enrolled students only during their scheduled class times and official studio activities; parents or guardians are responsible for arrival, pick-up, and the student’s care before class begins and after class ends. The studio does not assume liability for students who remain on or off premises outside scheduled class hours, including time spent waiting in parking areas or nearby locations, nor for unsupervised travel to and from the studio. Students must be picked up promptly at the end of class unless prior arrangements for authorized aftercare have been made in writing with studio staff. Academy of Arts Yazoo City reserves the right to charge late pickup fees for students not collected within the designated grace period and will take reasonable steps to contact emergency contacts if a student is not picked up, but this does not transfer ongoing responsibility for supervision to the studio beyond scheduled class times.
Class Observation
Academy of Arts has a small viewing window for class observation. There is not much room to see in, so please be mindful of others who may want to watch as well. If students are getting distracted, the teacher may cover the window.
